MANILA--A total of 517 Filipinos has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of Saturday, April 4, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
According to the DFA, 343 of them are being treated, while 131 others recovered or were dismissed from hospital.
The remaining 43, most of whom were from the Americas and Europe, died.
"These two regions have also recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases for the past weeks," the DFA said.
More than a thousand Filipino seafarers from ships docked in the United States and Europe have been repatriated after being stranded in their respective workplaces due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Worldwide, more than 970,000 people have been infected. More than 50,000 have died as of March 31, according to the World Health Organization.
