MANILA - The number of Filipinos abroad infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has risen to 280 after 77 new cases were reported, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday.
According to the DFA, a total of 280 Filipinos in the regions of Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Americas have contracted the disease as of March 28.
One hundred sixty-eight of them are under treatment, while 108 others recovered or were discharged.
The remaining four succumbed to the disease.
The DFA said there are around 28 countries with Filipino COVID-19 cases.
As of March 28, the pathogen has infected more than 571,000 people worldwide with nearly 27,000 deaths, according to the World Health Organization. --Report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
