MANILA - The number of Filipinos abroad who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has swelled to more than 200, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
The DFA said there are already 203 Filipinos spread out in 26 countries who were diagnosed with COVID-19.
Ninety-three of them are under treatment, while 107 recovered or were discharged, said the DFA.
The remaining three succumbed to the disease.
The Asia-Pacific region has the most number of Filipino COVID-19 patients, with 115, of whom, one died, 86 recovered, and 28 are undergoing treatment.
Forty-three Filipinos in Europe have been diagnosed with the disease, of whom, 22 were confirmed only on Wednesday. Of the total, two have died, 36 are under medical treatment, and 5 have recovered.
In the Middle East, there are 23 Filipinos with COVID-19, of whom 21 are under treatment and the other 2 recovered.
In the Americas, 22 Filipinos were recorded to have acquired the disease, 8 of whom are currently being treated while 14 others have recovered.
As of March 25, more than 414,000 people worldwide have contracted the disease with over 18,000 deaths, according to the World Health Organization. -- Report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
