A 54-year-old Filipino crew member was found dead in the engine room of the Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas last Saturday, WNBC reported.

In the report, law enforcement agents said they do not believe that the death was caused by the coronavirus.

The remains of the still unnamed Filipino was kept refrigerated aboard the ship before it was sent to Newark for a rush autopsy.

In a statement to WNBC, the Royal Caribbean said they are treating his death with an abundance of caution and that authorities were notified immediately after the Filipino crew member did not show up for work and was found dead.

The Royal Caribbean also said that they are cooperating fully with the investigation and have been advised by authorities that his death was non-suspicious.

ABS-CBN News has reached out to the Royal Caribbean but has yet to receive a response.
