CAGAYAN DE ORO - Four people were wounded in a grenade blast in Sitio Cabula, Barangay Lumbia in Cagayan de Oro, Tuesday night.

Victims Julius Javier and Ronald Fabrea Jr. had shrapnel injuries while Javier’s live-in-partner, Zaibe Villarin and their six-year-old daughter also sustained minor injuries.

Police said three men on board a motorcycle stopped in front of the Javier's store before throwing a hand grenade.

Fortunately, the gasoline bottles displayed outside the store did not explode.

"[Javier] thought the men on board the motorcycle were customers, but they sped off right after they threw the hand grenade at him," said police investigator P03 Junnirion Katipunan.

Recovered from the crime scene was a safety lever of a still unidentified type of grenade.

Authorities are looking at personal grudge against Javier as a motive for the crime. However, police are still investigating the identity of the assailants.
