MANILA - At least 11,000 passengers were stranded in 36 ports across the country Saturday after sea vessels were barred from traveling amid rough seas due to Tropical Storm "Urduja," the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Saturday.

As of 4 a.m., 11,101 passengers, 52 vessels, 1,322 rolling cargoes, and 33 motor bancas were held off in different ports, the PCG said in a statement.

In its weather bulletin issued at 8 a.m., weather bureau PAGASA said Urduja is moving west towards the Northern-Eastern Samar area at 10 kph, dumping rains on it way. It is likely to make landfall Saturday afternoon or evening.

PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, including Burias and Ticao Islands, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, and Leyte.

Other parts of Bicol and Central Visayas were, meanwhile, placed under Signal No. 1.
