MANILA (UPDATED) - President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed the only daughter of Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Luli Arroyo-Bernas, as chairperson of the board of trustees of the National Museum, according to an appointment paper released by the Palace Monday.

Arroyo-Bernas will replace Ramon R. Del Rosario as board chairperson of the National Museum, according to her appointment signed by Duterte on Dec. 6.

Arroyo-Bernas was also recently elected to lead the Congressional Spouses Foundation.

Outgoing National Museum board of trustees chairman Ramon R. del Rosario, Jr., welcomed Arroyo-Bernas' appointment, saying she "is the best qualified person to lead the National Museum."

"Moving forward, she has my full support to make this transition as smooth and efficient as possible," Del Rosario said in a statement.

Del Rosario, the third chairperson of the board of trustees, was appointed in 2011 under the administration of former president Benigno Aquino III.
