MANILA - Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales should brace herself for a strong impeachment complaint against her, crime watchdog Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) said Tuesday.
The VACC has threatened to seek Morales' ouster for months, accusing Morales of inordinately delaying high-profile cases and having partiality on the case against former President Benigno Aquino III over the 2015 massacre of 44 policemen in Maguindano.
Morales on Monday said the looming complaint "doesn't matter."
"Ang masasabi ko lang kay Ombudsman Morales dahil excited ka na ata: magdahan-dahan po dahil mapupusoy ka rito," VACC chairman Dante Jimenez told DZMM.
"Nakita ko na po ang ginawa ng aming lawyers at talagang lumalabas dito na may favoritism siya, may conflict of interest."
The "very, very good" impeachment complaint, he added, boasts of the highest number of attachments among the cases filed by VACC.
Jimenez declined to give more details about the case, but said he is confident that it will get the endorsement of congressmen.
The House justice committee is currently determining whether there is probable cause to pursue the impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
A separate impeachment case lodged by VACC against Sereno was dismissed due to insufficiency in form.
