MANILA - Pictures of the Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight, which made an emergency landing after one of its engines started emitting smoke and flames, showed the aircraft already on fire upon takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Thursday (Friday in Manila).
In a Facebook post of aviation news site Aeronews and pictures provided by Yochai Mossi, the engine of PAL Flight #PR113 is shown in flames. The plane was bound for Manila.
Around 340 passengers and crew were on the flight, that returned to LAX shortly and landed safely.
The incident is now under investigation, noting that all PAL planes undergo rigorous safety checks, said the carrier's spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.
