MANILA - The Senate on Tuesday automatically approved the Office of the President’s P8.2-billion budget for next year.
The OP’s budget, sponsored by President Rodrigo Duterte’s long-time aide Bong Go, was passed in less than a minute as no senator raised questions about the budget.
“I have no doubt that President Duterte’s office is using its budget solely for the benefit of the Filipino people,” Go said in his sponsorship speech.
The Department of Trade and Industry’s P9.45-billion budget also breezed through the chamber.
The DTI has been one of the best performing departments, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said.
It has done well in promoting micro, small, and medium enterprises, he said.
