ILOCOS NORTE - Police arrested on Wednesday an alleged serial rapist who was pretending to be a missionary in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.

Aristeo Alcantara, a 36-year-old Nueva Ecija native, was asking for donations from locals when they recognized him as a wanted rape suspect from a police sketch.

Ronald Suitos, chief of the Sarrat PNP.

[On Facebook we circulated a composite sketch of a man who is accused of raping a minor in Nueva Era so when they recognized him from that, they didn't let him go and immediately called the station.]

Recovered from his possession were money and two identification cards, a voter's and missionary ID.

[We are verifying if he is using his real name and whether his IDs are real. His missionary ID is questionable because it doesn't say what group or church he is affiliated with so it might just be his modus.]

Suitos added that the 14-year-old rape victim positively identified the suspect.

Last October, the girl reported to authorities that she was raped by a man who was also asking for donations.

[He asked the victim to go from house to house in the village but he brought her to a different place where he raped her.]

Alcantara, who is facing rape charges, denied the accusation.

"Wala akong alam diyan sir, sa korte na lang ako magsasalita," he said.

[I don't know anything sir, I will just defend myself in court.]
