MANILA (UPDATE)—Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday visited the tomb of former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo and commemorated how their family used to celebrate All Saints Day when her late husband was still alive.

"When Jesse was still with us, Undas was spent going around the different cemeteries in Naga lighting candles for departed friends and relatives," Robredo said of her husband, who was known for his simple lifestyle and grassroots leadership.

"But since he passed away 7 years ago, it was basically just staying here where he was laid to rest," the Vice President wrote in the caption of a photo featuring her husband's memorial shrine in their hometown Naga City.

"Super thankful that after 7 years, friends still continue to visit and pay their respects," she said.

Robredo visited her late husband's tomb with 2 of their 3 daughters, Aika and Tricia, as her youngest child, Jillian, continues to pursue a biomolecular science degree at the New York University in the United States.

Jesse Robredo, who was a long-time Naga City mayor before joining the cabinet of former president Benigno Aquino III, was killed in a plane crash in 2012.

""Yong nakakatulong siguro sa grief, 'yong nakakatulong sa kalungkutan, 'yong maraming mga kaibigan, kamag-anak na after 7 years naaalala pa rin 'yong asawa ko," the Vice President told ABS-CBN News.

(Knowing that many still remember my husband even after 7 years helped me cope with grief and sadness.)—With a report from Mae Pulvinar, ABS-CBN News
