MANILA - The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on Wednesday ordered the arrest of a Pampanga cop tagged in a raid in 2013 where he and his fellow policemen allegedly made off with millions of pesos worth of narcotics.
Sen. Richard Gordon, chair of the committee, ordered the arrest of Pampanga policeman Ronald Santos for failing to attend the Senate inquiry.
Santos was among the 13 cops led by Major Rodney Baloyo who allegedly made off with 160 kilograms of shabu during a raid in Mexico, Pampanga in 2013.
“Ronald Santos is very important in this case,” Gordon said.
Sens. Franklin Drilon and Panfilo Lacson moved to cite Santos in contempt as basis for his arrest.
The cops’ former boss, Philippine National Police chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde, is in hot water for allegedly attempting to block a 2014 dismissal order against them.
Albayalde, who retires next month, has denied any wrongdoing.
