MANILA — The number of violations recorded in Pasig City linked to the truck ban quadrupled between June and September, said Mayor Vico Sotto, who cited stricter enforcement of the ordinance.
(When I became mayor in July, people got away with disregarding the truck ban because some elements were covering for them. Based on these numbers, we are slowly winning the fight against corrupt practices. We are changing the city's culture.)
Several cities in Metro Manila have been enforcing the ban since 2016.
Under the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority's truck ban, cargo trucks are not allowed to pass through the Ortigas Business District from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Sundays and holidays.
Those who disregard the ban are fined P2,000.
