MANILA - Police have raided a "marijuana laboratory" in San Juan City after they received a tip from a concerned citizen about suspicious activities of a building tenant.
According to San Juan police chief Police Colonel Jaime Santos, they received a tip from a concerned citizen who showed photos of marijuana planted in the rooftop of a building in the city.
"She was the one who sought assistance sa ating PCP na merong hinihinalang marijuana dahil tenant siya. Electric bill, umabot sa P29,000 monthly," Santos said.
NCPO Chief Guillermo Eleazar said they applied for a search warrant as soon as they gathered enough evidence, which the court granted.
Authorities immediately raided the 4th floor of the building and discovered marijuana nurseries.
No one was found inside the "marijuana lab" during the raid but authorities said they have information that the tenant has been renting the area for 7 months already.
"Part of the investigation is getting the name of the tenant and background nitong establishment para siyang managot. Initially, sinasabi Chinese pero we have to check on this," Eleazar said.
Police found packed marijuana leaves which they said were ready for selling.
After the search and inventory, police will investigate if liquified marijuana was also produced in the area.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said the marijuana lab was located in a quiet residential area.
