MANILA - Senator Manny Pacquiao is now the chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics.
During Tuesday's plenary session, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri moved to elect Pacquiao as chairman of the committee.
Since there were no objections, the motion was approved and Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III announced Pacquiao as the new chairman of the Senate panel.
Before becoming Senate President, Sotto was the chair of the ethics committee.
Senator Grace Poe was also elected as a new member of the committee but Zubiri later corrected the motion since Poe was already a member. The Senate body elected Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian instead.
Other members include Senators Panfilo Lacson, Gregorio Honasan, Risa Hontiveros, and Bam Aquino.
The ethics committee has jurisdiction over "all matters relating to the conduct, rights, privileges, safety, dignity, integrity and reputation of the Senate and its members."
