MANILA—A suspected ranking member of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) was arrested by authorities in San Pedro City, Laguna early Wednesday.
Antonia Setias Dizon, allegedly the secretary or head of CPP-NPA-NDF's national organizing department, was caught inside her house in Olympia Village, Barangay Rosario.
Her arrest stemmed from a warrant for a case of murder that was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.
Search warrants over Dizon's alleged illegal possession of explosives were also served during the raid.
Seized from Dizon were a .38 revolver, blasting caps and wires, ammunition and several documents.
Laguna police director Eleazar Matta said Dizon's arrest would affect the leftist group.
He said Dizon reportedly replaced NDF consultants Rafael Baylosis and Adelberto Silva who were both arrested last year.—With reports from Dennis Datu, ABS-CBN News
