MANILA—State weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday it was monitoring 2 low-pressure areas (LPAs) spotted in Luzon.

One brewing storm is located 115 kilometers west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, weather specialist Meno Mendoza said.

The other weather disturbance is located 1,930 kilometers east of southern Luzon, according to PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin.

Mendoza said the LPA may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Wednesday and may develop into a tropical cyclone.

Meanwhile, monsoon rains will prevail over Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon.

The southwest monsoon or habagat will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Calabarzon and Cagayan Valley.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The rainy weather also forced the cancelation of classes in some provinces of Luzon.
