MANILA (UPDATE)—Former foreign affairs secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. was rushed to hospital Thursday night, hours after his arrest and detention at the Manila Police District headquarters.
According to MPD chief Police Brigadier General Vicente Danao, Yasay complained of chest pains while in detention.
Yasay was rushed to the Manila Doctors Hospital. He was accompanied by the MPD doctor. He will also be allowed to rest overnight at the hospital, with police escorts, should his doctor advise him to do so.
Yasay was arrested Thursday afternoon due to violations of the New Central Bank Law and Banking Law of the Philippines in connection to his past position in Banco Filipino.
