MANILA - The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) governor Zaldy Ampatuan was able to get out of jail for 3 hours on Tuesday.
Ampatuan faces 58 counts of murder in connection with the 2009 Maguindanao massacre.
BJMP Spokesperson Senior Insp. Xavier Solda said Ampatuan was granted a court order to attend a family event for 3 hours.
According to Solda, Ampatuan attended the wedding of his daughter in a hotel in Pasay.
Ampatuan left the BJMP at 4 p.m. and promptly returned at 7 p.m. of the same day.
"Nabigyan sya ng court order for 3 hours. Um-attend siya ng isang family activity. Safe naman siyang nakabalik, nandoon na siya ngayon sa jail," Solda said.
