MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday raised to P6 million the reward money for the capture of the killers of 4 police officers in Ayungon town, Negros Oriental last month.

Duterte even offered an additional P500,000 if the heads of the perpetrators are brought to him.

“Give to me his head. As of now it’s at P6 million,” he said in a speech before police officials in Malacañang.

“Ulo talaga dalhin mo, para makita ko itsura (Bring the head so I can see). Not because I am cruel, but I just want to be sure,” he said.

The 4 policemen were allegedly killed and tortured by members of the New Peoples’ Army last July 18 in Ayungon town. A spate of killings in Negros Island followed soon after.

“Kaya itong NPA galit ako dito kaya gusto kong malaman kung sila na ba dahil kung hindi pa sila dadagdagan ko pa ng P1 milyon, so at this time, it is at P6 million,” Duterte said.

(I am mad at the NPA because I want to know if they did it. If not, I will add another P1 million so at this time, it is at P6 million.)

Malacañang initially set the reward money at P1 million and later raised it to P3 million. By the end of July, the Palace has increased the bounty to P5 million.

The President even joked that he would raise the bounty to up to P50 million.
