MANILA - Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog will be released from detention if no criminal complaint is filed against her within the prescribed period, the Philippine National Police said Tuesday.

"Susunod po kami sa procedure. Kapag lumampas po iyung reglementary period at wala po silang kaso, maaari po silang i-release," PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos told ABS-CBN's "Umagang Kay Ganda."

Parojinog was arrested Sunday when police found about P1.4 million in cash, half a kilogram of suspected shabu and several firearms from her house in San Roque Lawis, Ozamiz.

The same 2:30 a.m. operation left 15 people dead including Parojinog's father, Mayor Reynaldo Sr., whose security personnel allegedly fought the raiding team.

The vice mayor's camp said they will demand her release after police failed to file raps against her within 36 hours after her arrest.

In his interview, Carlos confirmed that the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has yet to sue Parojinog as of early Tuesday.

"Iyung legal action, returning of the warrant and pagsasampa ng kaso ng CIDG, iyun po ang hihintayin natin kasi they are still in the process of returning the warrant," he said.

Parojinog is currently detained at the PNP national headquarters in Quezon City along with her brother, who was also nabbed on Sunday.
