OZAMIZ CITY - Peace and quiet, not justice. This is the only wish of the relatives of JR Millanar, a television network cameraman who was one of 15 people killed in a police raid against Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog.

"All I want for my son is a proper burial," Millanar's mother, Erlinda, told ABS-CBN News on Tuesday. (Gusto lang nako nga naay maayong lubnganan.)

Asked if she will pursue justice for her youngest son, Erlinda said "Not anymore. I'm already old. I want peace, I don't want any trouble. All I ask is help in burying my son."

(Ayaw nalang kay kapoy na... edaran nako. Gusto ko og kalinaw, dili ko gusto anang samok. Ang ako lang nga tabangan ko nga malubong akong anak.)

Relatives said the 25-year-old Millanar, who worked for Lumad TV, slept at the Parojinog's house in San Roque Lawis, Ozamiz on Saturday to meet the mayor's brother, Misamis Occidental board member Octavio Parojinog.

At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, policemen bearing 6 search warrants swooped down the house and the adjoining properties of the Parojinogs.

The clan's security personnel however allegedly fought authorities. The ensuing gun battle killed Millanar, the mayor, his brother, wife and sister, and 10 others.

Millanar left behind a 4-year-old daughter. His wake is being held at a waiting shed in Barangay Lam-an, Ozamiz.

His friend Ariel Camantang said Millanar's death was a hard blow to those who knew him.

"When we heard over the radio that a Lumad TV cameraman died in the raid, we were devastated and struck silent. We cannot do anything," he said.

(Pag-ingon na sa radyo nga naay isa ka lumad nga cameraman, didto nami wala na, nahusno na tanan. Wala na nahilum nami tanan wala nami mabuhat.)

Millanar's family will bury him after their other relatives from Bohol arrive in Ozamiz to pay their last respects.

A wake for the Parojinogs meanwhile was held at a covered court in Barangay San Roque.

The mayor's daughter, Vice Mayor Nova Princess, was detained in Quezon City in connection to the firearms and illicit drugs seized from her house last Sunday. -- With Joey Yecyec, ABS-CBN News
