MANILA — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur Tuesday's afternoon, Phivolcs said.
The tremor happened at 5:38 p.m., 5 kilometers southeast of Carrascal town.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 8 kilometers, according to Phivolcs.
The tremor was not expected to cause damage and aftershocks.
Intensity IV was felt in the towns of Carrascal and Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.
Phivolcs said Tuesday's temblor is an aftershock of the July 13 magnitude 5.5 earthquake that hit the province.
