Two tricycle drivers were shot dead in separate incidents in Cebu in as many days, authorities said.
Tricycle Driver Rico Amodia was shot dead in broad daylight while driving at Barangay Poblacion, Cordova town.
According to witnesses, they heard the sound of a gunshot then saw Amodia fall off his motorcycle. He was shot in the nape.
The victim's daughter Honey Amodia said his father was a kind man and had no enemies from work.
A small commotion ensued in the crime scene when the funeral parlor transported the remains without waiting for the scene of the crime operatives (SOCO).
SOCO personnel were seen scolding members of the Cordova Police Station. It was the victim's wife, Florabel Amodia, who decided not to wait for forensic investigators.
"It took them so long, and it is so hot. The person is already dead and they want him to rot under the heat of the sun?" said the victim's widow in the vernacular.
Police Sgt. Leonardo Ompad of the Cordova Police Station defended the decision of the family. He also dismissed the possibility that personal grudge was behind the shooting as the victim was said to have been notorious for taking passengers away from his fellow drivers.
Meanwhile, another tricycle driver was shot dead Sunday night in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
Victim Antonio Guillarawan was on his way home when an unidentified assailant shot him in the head.
His live-in partner who was with him during the shooting survived the incident.
