MANILA—Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said Friday he plans to create more green spaces as part of his efforts to rehabilitate the nation's capital.
"For the City of Manila to be healthy, as a city or green city, we have to plant 1,600 hectares of green space," he said in a speech during the induction of officers of Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila.
Moreno earlier said that the United Kingdom offered to help him in restoring Manila.
He said British Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce will help his administration "in creating and opening more green spaces in the City of Manila aside from the existing Mehan Garden, Arroceros Park, Lawton and Sunken Garden."
The Manila City government also entered into an agreement with the Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila to restore Remedios Circle.
"Let’s bring back the old days. Bring back this kind of heritage in the city. Dapat nga ang pamana inaalagaan, hindi inaalis. Ang pamana is not for us but for the future," he said.—With reports from Ina Reformina, ABS-CBN News
