MANILA - The policemen involved in the drug operation that killed 3-year-old Myka Ulpina in Rodriguez town, Rizal will face criminal charges, the country's top cop said Thursday.
PNP Chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde issued the statement after a ballistics exam revealed the fatal bullet was fired by Police Senior Master Sergeant Conrado Cabigao Jr.
Ulpina died on June 29 after being caught in the drug operation's crossfire, authorities said.
She sustained a gunshot wound in her brain--a bullet entered her nape with an upward trajectory and then exited her left ear, police said.
The police previously said her father, the target of the operation, fired at police and used the child as a shield, a claim that the mother denied.
