MANILA– Another former military official may soon join President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet.
The President early Wednesday said he might soon appoint another former military official to replace Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol, who was transferred to the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa).
“I’m scouting around. Maybe again a military man kasi madali mag-utos ng trabaho (because it’s easier to give instructions) and they do it without question,” Duterte said during an interview over Pastor Apollo Quiboloy's TV program.
“When I tell you do this or do that, do not question. I will never give you an order that is something illegal,” he said.
Duterte has appointed several retired military officials to his Cabinet, the latest of whom is former mutineer and senator Gringo Honasan as head of the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
Other retired military officials who are part of Duterte’s official family are Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista, Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Carlito Galvez Jr, Housing Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon.
