ZAMBOANGA CITY - A Sulu-based Abu Sayyaf subleader was killed in an operation in Basilan after resisting arrest, military officials said.
He was identified as Arod Wahing, a trusted leader of Abu Sayyaf group leader Radulan Sahiron.
A report from the 104th Infantry Brigade showed that Wahing was killed during an operation launched by the military and the police to serve an arrest warrant against him in Barangay Parian Baunoh, Lantawan municipality at 3:25 a.m. Monday.
Wahing has a warrant of arrest for murder issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 3 in Jolo, Sulu.
A caliber .45 pistol was allegedly recovered by authorities from Wahing's possession.
Two other personalities found in his residence were brought to the headquarters of the 4th Special Forces Battalion in Isabela for custodial debriefing.
