MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has tapped retired general Eduardo del Rosario as the country’s housing czar.
Documents released by the Palace on Thursday showed Del Rosario was appointed as chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) on Wednesday, July 12.
The HUDCC post was once held by Vice President Leni Robredo. She quit the post after being barred by the President from attending Cabinet meetings.
Secretary to the Cabinet Leoncio Evasco took over the post after Robredo’s departure.
Del Rosario served as National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chief and Office of Civil Defense administrator under the previous administration.
He was also a commander of the 2nd Infantry Division and the former head of the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Duterte also appointed lawyer Raul Loyola Lambino as administrator and chief executive officer of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority, replacing Jose Mari Ponce.
Lambino once served as legal spokesperson of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
