MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in its Saturday bulletin reported one new case of a Filipino overseas catching COVID-19. The total tally is at 8,804.
The single coronavirus case was traced to a country in the Asia-Pacific.
In its latest bulletin, the agency reported no new coronavirus-related fatality. The death toll remained at 594.
Meanwhile, another overseas Filipino has recovered from the virus, bringing the recoveries to 5,266.
“As we celebrate World Population Day in the midst of the global threat of COVID-19, the DFA, along with its Foreign Service Posts around the world, continues to ensure the protection of the welfare of our overseas Filipinos and remains fully committed to its repatriation efforts, leaving no one behind,” the department said in a statement.
To date, some 2,944 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 119 in the Asia-Pacific region, 484 in Europe, 2,221 in the Middle East and Africa and 120 in the Americas.
In the Philippines, COVID-19 has so far sickened 54,222 people, with 1,372 fatalities and 14,037 recoveries. --With a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
