MANILA—Two light aftershocks struck North Cotabato late Tuesday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Both tremors occurred southwest of Makilala town and measured 4.8 in magnitude.
State seismologists recorded the first quake at 10:12 p.m. at a depth of 9 kilometers followed by another one at 11:31 p.m. at a depth of 16 kilometers.
Intensity 5, which may cause strong shaking in buildings and hanging objects to swing violently, was recorded in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato.
The Phivolcs said these were aftershocks of the 5.6-magnitude tremor that jolted North Cotabato at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday.
All classes in Makilala town are suspended on Wednesday, July 10, to give way for the inspection of school buildings.
