MANILA - Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto will be reelected when the 18th Congress reopens on July 22, Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon said Tuesday.
"Sa'min 'yung mayorya nagkasundo na magpapatuloy si Senate President Sotto. 'Yan po wala nang kuwestiyon. Pagbukas ng session sa July 22 eh 'yan po ang pormalidad. We will elect Sen. Sotto in accordance with the Constitution," Drilon told radio DZMM.
(Our majority has agreed that Senate President Sotto will retain his post. There is no question about that. That is the formality when session opens on July 22.)
Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa on Monday said he would support Sotto, calling it a "done deal."
Drilon added that the committee chairmanships have been sorted out.
"Mukhang wala na ring problema. Nagkasundo na rin at 'yung equity of the incumbent nangibabaw bilang patakaran so mukhang wala masyadong palit except for some," he said.
(It seems there's no more problem. We have agreed and the equity of the incumbent prevailed so it seems there are no changes except for some.)
"Yung mga umalis na senador at 'yung mga bago, may mga bagong chairmanship."
