The Supreme Court will build its new facilities in Capas, Tarlac after it formally signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on Thursday.

The Supreme Court said in a press release it was allocating a 5.8-hectare area inside the National Government Administrative Center in New Clark City for the development of its judiciary offices.

The lot will be used as a regional office of the Supreme Court with an archive center, data center, and a training center with living quarters.

Its attached agencies such as the Philippine Judicial Academy, the Judicial and Bar Council, and the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Office will also use the new facilities.

Under the pact, the Supreme Court's lot will be surrounded by a residential area, a business center, and a proposed governance-innovation center.

The new facilities will also be accessible via a 12-kilometer road from New Clark City to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin graced the event while the signing was led by Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez and BCDA President and CEO Vivencio Dizon.

The 200-hectare mixed-use government center in New Clark City is part of President Rodrigo Duterte's plan to move state offices from Metro Manila to address the congestion problem in the capital.

The Supreme Court is also building its new complex on a lot purchased from the BCDA at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
