MANILA—State weather bureau PAGASA on Wednesday warned of possible flooding in parts of Mindanao due to a low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the weather disturbance, which will also bring rains in parts of the Visayas, was located 730 kilometers east of General Santos City.
PAGASA said flooding may occur in Sultan Kudarat, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sarangani in Soccsksargen and Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao.
Residents living near mountain slopes and low-lying areas are advised to take precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, Aurelio said the southwest monsoon or habagat will prevail over western Luzon, but generally fair weather may be experienced in the area in the next few days.
Another LPA brewing west of the country has developed into tropical storm named "Mun" and was spotted off Hainan, China.
