MANILA - A Kenyan national believed to be a member of international terror group Al Qaeda was arrested by authorities in Iba, Zambales, Tuesday.
Authorities said they found an improvised explosive device, bomb components, a gun and a grenade at the hotel room of suspect Cholo Abdi Abdullah.
The warrant was served after authorities received information about Abdullah from their foreign counterparts, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Police Major Gen. Amador Corpus said.
Abdullah has been a member of the Al Qaeda group since 2012 and was reportedly in the Philippines to become a pilot, Corpus said.
He noted the suspect is currently enrolled in a flight school.
