MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed career official Judy Carol Dansal as the new administrator of the National Food Authority (NFA) Council.
Dansal replaces Jason Aquino and will serve his unexpired term which began in July 2018 and end on June 30 this year, an appointment paper released by Malacañang shows.
She previously served as deputy administrator for marketing operations of the council.
The NFA Council, which decides on rice importation, is different from the NFA, the state grains agency.
Under Aquino, the NFA drew flak for the low supply of the state-subsidized grain in local markets and the weevil infestation of hundreds of thousands of sacks of rice.
Duterte last year abolished the council and returned it under the control of the Department of Agriculture following problems on rice supply.
