MANILA – Immigration agents recently arrested a Kuwaiti national for overstaying in the country.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Jaime Morente immediately ordered the conduct of deportation proceedings against Ahmad Issac Alameri, 59.
“He is a public charge and an undesirable alien who does not deserve the privilege to stay in our country. He should be expelled and returned to where he came from,” Morente said in a statement.
The bureau’s Regional Intelligence Operations Unit (RIOU) VI arrested Alameri in Guimaras Island on June 6.
Alameri has overstayed in the country since July 2017, the immigration office said. He is also an undocumented alien holding an expired Kuwaiti passport.
He admitted in an interview that he could not return to his country because he is "wanted by the royal family and Kuwait’s intelligence agencies," the BI said.
Morente said information about Alameri’s whereabouts were sent to the bureau through its social media page. Alameri was a subject of complaints from residents in his area for alleged arrogance and intimidation.
"We really act on all information we receive. Even through Facebook, as long as the information is complete and verifiable," Morente said.
