MANILA- The scheduled arraignment of former police officer Wenceslao "Wally" Sombero on graft and direct bribery charges at the Sandiganbayan 6th Division Friday was canceled and reset to June 29, 2018.

The court granted the motion to cancel the proceedings filed by the prosecution panel because of pending motions, as well as the necrological rites for slain prosecutor Madonna Joy Ednaco-Tanyag.

Sombero, along with former Bureau of Immigration deputy commissioners Al Argosino and Michael Robles, is facing plunder, graft and direct bribery charges for the supposed payment of P50 million by businessman Jack Lam for the release of illegal Chinese workers arrested in Pampanga in 2016.

Sombero was supposed to be arraigned last May 25 along with Argosino and Robles but he was confined at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center for thrombosis.
