The number of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Davao region has climbed by 52, bringing the total to 329, the Department of Health's (FOH) Davao Center for Health Development said Friday.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the DOH said 3 new recoveries from the disease were also recorded in Davao City, bringing the total number of recoveries to 138.
Davao City has the most number of new COVID-19 cases with 30, followed by Davao Oriental with 12, Davao del Sur with 9, and Davao del Norte with 1.
Eight of the total cases in Davao Oriental are overseas Filipino workers who were passengers of sweeper flights and 4 had travel history from Maguindanao.
The city information office of Digos confirmed in a Facebook post that the 7 out of the 9 new cases in Davao del Sur came from their area.
This brings the total number of cases in their city to 8, all of which are employees of Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital.
"We assure all Digoseños that our City Health Office is in close coordination with the hospital administration. Contact Tracing have already begun, even before these confirmatory results came out. The families and relatives in close contact of these persons are now subject to strict quarantine conditions," city Mayor Josef Cagas said.
The Philippines, so far, has 16,634 COVID-19 cases with 3,720 recoveries and 942 fatalities.
