ZAMBOANGA CITY - At least 18 members of the Philippine Coast Guard Zamboanga Station, including a driver and an escort, sustained minor injuries after a truck accident on a highway leading to Barangay Maasin, in Zamboanga City on Monday morning.
A report from the PCG said one of the truck's tires exploded, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which turned on its side.
The group was on its way to Ayala National High School and Ayala Elementary School to participate in the National Schools Maintenance Week, also known as Brigada Eskwela.
After the incident, the Coast Guard personnel managed to lift the vehicle themselves despite being slightly injured. They later went to the nearest Coast Guard headquarters for medical attention.
The team will return to the schools to participate in Brigada Eskwela on Tuesday.
