MANILA—Some P1 billion worth of illegal narcotics were seized Wednesday at a warehouse in Malabon, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said Friday.

In a statement, PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino said 146 kilos of shabu from Cambodia was found in the Goldwin Commercial Warehouse in Malabon.

Aquino alleged that the shipment is from the Goldwin Triangle syndicate and is connected to the drugs seized in Dasmariñas and Tanza, Cavite, worth P244 million and P1.9 billion, respectively.

According to the agency, the suspects behind the Dasmariñas drug shipment were expecting another one to arrive concealed in tapioca starch consigned to Goroyam trading.

The shipment was found by the Bureau of Customs and the two agencies agreed to auction it to bait the drug syndicate.

The auction was held on April 22, in which Goldwin Commercial Warehouse submitted the highest bid.

PDEA, however, found no evidence linking the owners of the warehouse to the drug trade.
