MANILA — Outgoing Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat failed in his bid to become the provincial governor.

Baguilat received 30,580 votes, while outgoing Banaue town mayor Jerry Dalipog secured the post with 35,901 votes, based on 98.74 percent of election returns in the province as of 3:09 p.m. Sunday.

Prior to serving as the province's representative, Baguilat served as the provincial governor from 2001 to 2004, and from 2007 to 2010.

In 2018, Baguilat won two graft cases filed against him after government prosecutors failed to file petitions for certiorari questioning the dismissal of the cases stemming from the purchase of a government vehicle in 2003.
