MANILA—Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora won the congressional race of Compostela Valley's first district against independent candidate Franco Tito.
Zamora got 78,257 votes, while Tito received 70,808 votes, based on 100 percent unofficial election returns as of 5:04 p.m. Friday.
Zamora previously served as the province's vice governor and 2nd district representative.
He made headlines in 2013 when he allegedly received P3 million worth of pork barrel funds, according to the Commission on Audit.
The Department of Budget and Management, however, acknowledged that it was a clerical mistake.
