MANILA - Otso Diretso candidate Bam Aquino on Friday asked for prayers as he remained 2 places below the winning circle with nearly 2 percent of votes left for canvassing.
As of 8:29 a.m., Aquino, who is vying for a second term in the Senate, is 354,000 votes away from bagging the 12th and last spot in the Senate race.
"I just want to tell everyone out there that I'm ok! Please continue praying for me, better yet, please continue praying for and loving our country," Aquino said in an Instagram post.
"Hindi mauubos ang pagmamahal ko sa ating mga kababayan maganda man o hindi ang resulta ng eleksyon," he said.
(My love for our countrymen will not waiver, regardless of the election results.)
Aquino's 7 other co-candidates under the Otso Diretso slate failed to win the senatorial elections as administration-backed bets dominated the Top 12.
The opposition slate earlier said it was still hoping for a "miracle" win for Aquino, and former Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas who landed on the 16th spot with 9,777,226 votes.
