MANILA - Alan Peter Cayetano was proclaimed Taguig City 1st district representative early Wednesday.
Cayetano received 91,993 votes, while his opponent Alan Cerafica got 30,000 votes.
The former foreign affairs secretary was proclaimed later than other elected officials after two SD cards in Taguig-Pateros district were found defective.
Cayetanos dominated key races in the city. Alan Peter's wife Lani also won the Taguig lone district congressional race with 112,535 votes, while Che Che Gonzales got 41,763 votes.
The Cayetano couple’s candidacies in separate legislative districts have been questioned by a Taguig resident before the Comelec over domicile issues. On May 6, however, the poll body junked the petition.
Alan Peter's younger brother Lino, meanwhile, was proclaimed Taguig City mayor with 174,906 votes, opposite Alan Cerafica's brother Arnel, who got 111,125 votes.
The Cerafica brothers and their supporters earlier took to the streets to protest the Cayetanos' victory.
The City Board of Canvassers will resume counting of votes Wednesday in order to proclaim the winning councilors in 2 districts.
