MANILA (UPDATE) -- A magnitude 4.7 quake struck off Eastern Samar on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
Philvolcs initially declared the quake as magnitude 4.5.
The quake occurred 11:01 AM with a depth of 24 kilometers, 8 kilometers southeast of the municipality of San Julian.
Philvolcs said the quake is an aftershock of the magnitude 6.5 earthquake which hit Eastern Samar last April 23.
The tremor was not expected to cause aftershocks.
