The Philippine Coast Guard on Friday carried the image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel de San Sebastian to celebrate the 400th anniversary of its arrival in the country.
After the fluvial parade at Manila Bay, the image was brought to Quirino Grandstand where thousands of devotees celebrated mass.
The image was then brought to Quiapo Church for the Salubong, where the image of the Black Nazarene was brought out to meet the image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Another procession was held at 11 a.m., transferring the image to San Sebastian Church for a thanksgiving mass.
Friday's procession was the first traslacion held in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel since its image arrived in the country in the 1600s.
