MANILA - Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde on Tuesday sacked 3 police officers who were caught on camera confronting a motorist whose vehicle grazed theirs.
The video, which went viral recently, shows the 3 policemen -- who are brothers -- at the house of the motorist in Caloocan City. Also shown were the civilian's family asking the officers why they were carrying firearms in violation of the election gun ban.
The 3 policemen were identified as PO3 Ralph Soriano, PO1 Rendel Soriano and PO1 Reniel Soriano.
The brothers are facing administrative charges for grave threats and intimidation, said Albayalde.
An ongoing investigation will determine whether criminal charges are in order, he added.
The trio have been reassigned to the police Holding and Accounting Unit in Camp Crame. They were previously with the Northern Police District, Caloocan police and Drug Enforcement Group, added Albayalde.
The brothers' relief, he said, is consistent with the police's zero tolerance policy for erring officers.
