CEBU CITY - After bagging the top spot in the 2016 bar exams, Cebu's University of San Carlos (USC) continued its winning streak, this time with three bar topnotchers.

Christianne Mae Balili was the second top scorer in the 2017 bar exams, while her schoolmates Ivanne D'laureil Hisoler and Rheland Servacio placed 4th and 7th, respectively.

Balili recalled how she took the exams with a heavy heart.

It was the first Sunday of the four-weekend exams when her grandmother, who died of aneurysm, was buried. She couldn't make it to the funeral since she had to take the exam.

More than fulfilling her goal to pass the bar, Balili had enough inspiration to really make it to the top.

Balili said it was her grandma's dying wish for her grandchild to finish the bar with flying colors. She has made this come true with her topnotch finish.

Balili was teary-eyed while remembering her struggles from law school up to moment she finished the exam. She is currently a junior associate at a law firm in Cebu.

Last year, Karen Calam, also a USC graduate, made her school proud by scoring the highest in the 2016 bar exams.
